Migrating from the Paynote plugin

Important: deadline August 23, 2026

Old API URLs will be permanently shut down on August 23, 2026. After that date, the Paynote plugin will no longer work. The current Paynote plugin will also be removed from the WordPress directory (wordpress.org/plugins/paynote).

Step by step

How to switch to the new plugin

Follow the steps in order. The whole migration takes just a few minutes.

  1. Back up your site optional

This step is optional. Before installing the new plugin and removing the old one, WordPress recommends backing up your site — it lets you roll back quickly if needed.

  2. Install the Seamless ACH plugin

In your WordPress Admin Dashboard, navigate to Plugins → Add New, then choose one of the following installation methods:

    Recommended

Option 1: Install from the WordPress Plugin Directory

    1. Enter Seamless ACH in the plugin search field.
    2. Locate the Seamless ACH plugin in the search results (wordpress.org/plugins/seamless-ach).
    3. Click Install Now.

    Option 2: Manual Installation

    1. Download Latest Version — seamless-ach.zip file from the official SeamlessChex WordPress plugin page.
    2. On the Add Plugins page, click Upload Plugin.
    3. Select the downloaded seamless-ach.zip file.
    4. Click Install Now.
  3. Activate the new plugin

Activate the installed Seamless ACH plugin in the WordPress “Plugins” section.

  4. Transfer settings from Paynote to Seamless ACH

Review and transfer settings from the following pages:

    • Paynote main settings:
      wp-admin/admin.php?page=paynote_gateway
    • WooCommerce payment methods — if needed, enable the new Seamless ACH payment method and disable the old Paynote one:
      wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=checkout
    • Email settings (if used):
      wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=email
    🔑

    Key point

Be sure to transfer the API key (Secret Key) from Paynote's main settings — without it, the new plugin cannot process payments.

  5. Deactivate the old Paynote plugin disable

After transferring the settings, deactivate the Paynote plugin to avoid payment method conflicts.

  6. Update the Webhook URL

  7. Test it

Make a test payment and confirm that all functions work correctly with the new plugin.

  8. Remove the old Paynote plugin remove

Once you've confirmed everything works correctly, delete the old Paynote plugin.

You can't keep both plugins active at the same time

The Paynote and Seamless ACH plugins cannot be active simultaneously. Activate the new plugin and deactivate the old one — running both at once will cause a payment method conflict.

Good to know

Possible changes

Filtering of old orders

A possible inconvenience during the migration is that previously created orders using the Paynote payment method may stop being filterable by payment method in WooCommerce. However, this depends on your specific store configuration and may not occur.

Orders that are still processing

When you change the Webhook URL and the plugin, orders that are still being processed may get “stuck” in their current status. Ideally, wait until all current orders reach the Paid status, and only then reinstall the plugin. Otherwise, you'll need to re-check the stuck orders manually.

Payments are not affected

This does not affect the processing of existing orders or the acceptance of new payments through the new plugin.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the questions that come up most often during the migration.

Will my data and payment history change?

No. Your account, data, transaction history, and customer list stay unchanged — only the plugin name and API addresses change.

Do I need to transfer customers manually?

No. The data is stored on the Seamless ACH side and available in the same dashboard as before.

What happens to old Paynote orders?

They will still be displayed. It's possible that old orders may stop being filterable by the Paynote payment method in WooCommerce — this depends on your store configuration and doesn't affect payments.

What happens to orders that are still processing during the migration?

When you change the Webhook URL and the plugin, orders that are still being processed may stay in their current status. Ideally, wait until all orders reach the Paid status, and only then reinstall the plugin. Otherwise, you'll need to re-check the stuck orders manually.

Can I keep both plugins active at the same time?

No. You can't have the Paynote and Seamless ACH plugins active at the same time — it causes a payment method conflict. Only one of them should be enabled.

What happens if I don't migrate before August 23, 2026?

After that date, the old API URLs will be shut down and the Paynote plugin will stop accepting payments. We recommend migrating ahead of time.

We recommend migrating ahead of time

Don't wait until August 23, 2026. By migrating early, you'll ensure uninterrupted payments and avoid problems after the old APIs are turned off.
